Peggy has been a member of our studio family since 2011!  From group fitness to Pilates Reformer, movement is an integral part of her life and as a recent retiree, she plans to devote more time to her wellness!

I’ve always been interested in fitness and discovered that my favorite type activity are group classes. I joined various clubs over the years and took several classes through Livonia Public Schools. In August 2011, I found a coupon for Mid American Fitness in a golf outing goodie bag and decided to try some classes. My first class was BODYPUMP! Even though I was on ibuprofen for 24 hours after, to be able to move, but I loved the class and the studio!

Since then, Mid American has been a very important part of my life. I can’t say enough nice things about Karen, the instructors and all of the staff! I don’t think I have ever been disappointed with a class or an instructor. Every class feels like a personal training session and everybody is treated like family. When I started, I took classes in the evenings and on weekends. As my work schedule became more flexible, I switched exclusively to mornings. The excellence of the classes and instructors has remained constant. With their encouragement, I signed up for the custom nutrition program in 2019 and was able to lose 22lbs (and keep it off)!

The studio is such a big part of my life that when I moved from Dearborn Heights (which was a 30 minute commute to Mid American) so that I could be closer to a lake, my requirement was that my new home had to be within driving distance to the studio. During the pandemic, my attachment to the studio grew even further. When the lock down was announced, Karen offered the studio’s equipment and quickly set up Zoom and on-demand classes.  There was constant communication and outside classes scheduled as soon as it was allowable. I believe that our community grew much closer during this time!

Through the years, I’ve maintained my commitment to exercise because it’s good for my body and soul! It is a stress-reliever and energy-booster. I always feel better physically and mentally after attending a class. Along with the group fitness classes, I also make sure to take a Pilates Reformer class at least once a week. Besides being a great workout, it allows me to unwind and be in tune with my body. Our Wednesday Pilates Reformer class has become great friends (the “A Team!”).

After working full-time for over 40 years, I’ve decided to retire from my career in insurance and take some time to unwind from the daily grind. As I want to focus more on myself and my goals, exercise will remain crucial and the starting point of my daily routine. With my free time, I look forward to doing some more pleasure reading, spending more time on the lake, and keeping active!
