Member Inspiration: Katie Doig

Our wonderful member, Katie, is back to her wellness routine after welcoming a new baby!

Katie has been a member of our fitness family since 2018! She originally discovered our studio through her wonderful in-laws, Amy and Julie Doig - both of whom have been a part of our community for many years. As an avid Pilates Reformer member, Julie recommended it to Katie to help alleviate the severe sciatic pain she was experiencing during her first pregnancy. From that first Pilates Reformer workout, Katie was hooked and has been a member ever since!

With a background of teaching elementary school for ten years as well as coaching volleyball and softball, Katie knows the importance of movement for overall well-being. That’s why, as a busy stay-at-home wife and mother of four littles, she prioritizes exercise. Though it’s not easy, Katie aims workout 3-4 times a week, and her wonderful husband and mom help by handling bus drop-offs and morning routines. 

Not only is exercise non-negotiable, but our workouts are the first that Katie’s enjoyed since playing team sports, and the benefits don’t stop there: “I exercise because I want to feel strong, flexible, and lead a healthier lifestyle. When I wake up and workout, I become more aware of the foods I eat, how much water I drink, and the choices I make throughout the rest of the day. I absolutely love when I come home from a class and my boys ask, ‘Are you feeling strong, Mom?’ I’m so proud that I get to model how important exercising is for the body and mind!” 

From Pilates Reformer’s core strengthening and more (which Katie says that she really needs after four babies), to up-beat, full-body, fitness classes - Katie loves her morning workouts with Ericka, Terry, Michelle and Jenny. Plus, checking in on her morning friends and having adult conversations does wonders when the rest of the day is spent with her kiddos.

Katie’s advice for other moms? Try a few different workouts until you find something, or an instructor, that you love. It makes all the difference!
